‘Dumping discovered at historic graveyard’.
Family members of graves in the cemetery of Rosahane are reported to have been disgusted when they heard about the recent dumping at the graveyard. It is believed that unauthorised waste collectors may be ‘…behind the illegal dumping of two tonnes of household waste at a scenic graveyard near Aughrim’. Again the public are reminded of their obligations to check for waste permits from waste collectors, ‘…if they are approached by a waste collector who offers to take rubbish away for a cheap prize there is a good chance it will be illegally dumped.’ It also reminds householders that they too may face prosecution if they handed over the waste.
The clean-up of Rosahane Cemetery was organised by PURE and Wicklow County Council. Pictures of Rosahane with the dumping present and after the clean-up can be viewed in the Photo Gallery of the website – Pictures are entitled; ‘Rosahane Cemetery’ and ‘Rosahane Cemetery – Clean-Up’
